Acupuncture and Meridians
Electromagnetic energy is all around us. It is essential for sustaining life. For thousands of years ancient healers have tapped into and used this vital energy to heal. We are all connected to this energy as it flows around, through and in us. In China it is called Chi, Ki in Japan and in India its name is Prana. As it flows through all life it brings vital energy, similar to nutrients traveling through veins. In a perfect body Chi moves freely giving life, strengthening where needed and providing healing energy when required and is replenished daily as we connect with the earth's magnetic fields and the energy fields around us. As it flows through the body it follows specific paths. These paths are called meridians. These invisible channels through which Chi circulates have points where they are closer to the surface of the body. This holes, or xue are acupuncture points. There are 12 main meridians, and numerous minor ones. Each meridian is related to or named for an organ or function. For example, lung, kidney, pericardium, small intestine, etc. There are also 8 extraordinary channels in which are thought to be reservoirs of Chi readily available to the main meridians. "When Chi flows freely through the meridians, the body is balanced and healthy, but if the energy becomes blocked, stagnated or weakened, it can result in physical, mental or emotional ill health. An imbalance in a person's body can result from inappropriate emotional responses such as: excess anger, over-excitement, self-pity, deep grief and fear.Environmental factors such as cold, damp/humidity, wind, dryness, and heat can also cause imbalance so as factors such as wrong diet, overwork and too much exercise." Meridian massage is a SelfCare technique to stimulate and restore balance. It is soothing, healing and energizing. By learning the 12 main meridians, as well as the organs and functions they are associated with, the individual can facilitate the movement of Chi and unblock and strengthen key areas. In our Taming the Stress Dragon program you will learn the major meridians lines and learn to incorporate meridian massage in to your daily routine.
